Club: The Queen’s Equestrian Club offers an affordable and convenient avenue through which students can participate in the sport of horseback riding at all levels – beginner to advanced. Lessons are offered in English hunter-seat equitation through Maple Lane Stables and Dreamcatcher Farm, both of which are located approximately 15-20 minutes from the Queen’s campus. The club is part of the recreational branch of the Golden Gaels – Queen’s University Athletics and Recreation. However, it is seeking a status change to become a developmental club, which would allow greater opportunities for its members to compete. The club also organizes socials for its members, which provide horse-lovers within the Queen’s community an opportunity to meet other like-minded individuals.

The Trent Equestrian Team, founded in 2004, is a derivative of the Club. The team travels to New York State to compete in Zone Two, Region Two of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA). In the 2007/2008 the team will also compete in the newly formed Ontario University Equestrian Association (OUEA). This will be the first year for an OUEA team and we are very exciting about this new opportunity. The Team is determined through tryouts which are held at the beginning of the school year. Equestrians of all skill levels can compete in the IHSA and OUEA, ranging from Beginner walk-trot divisions to 3'+ over fences.
